Gus Mantia Named Director of Facilities

The district recently appointed Gus Mantia as director of facilities.
Mantia comes to Wyandanch from the Northport-East Northport School District, where he had served since 2018 as high school head custodian and building supervisor. He previously worked as head custodian for the Southampton School District and a custodian for the Patchogue-Medford School District.
A Medford resident, Mantia holds an associate’s degree in electronics and computer service technology from the Island & Drafting Technical Institute and has completed professional training in asbestos inspection, indoor air quality, mold assessment, building operations and facilities management leadership.
“My goal as director of facilities is to create safe, secure, efficient and well-maintained learning environments that allow our students and staff to focus on what matters most,” Mantia said. “Facilities management is about more than maintaining buildings – it is about building a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork and pride in our schools. When we take care of our facilities, we are ultimately taking care of the people who rely on them every day.”
