Wyandanch launches Student Ambassador Program with Sheriff Toulon

Wyandanch Memorial High School recently hosted an introduction breakfast with Suffolk County Sheriff Dr. Errol D. Toulon Jr. to officially welcome students into the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office Student Ambassador Program.
Established in 2018, the program was created to build positive relationships between students and law enforcement while promoting leadership and public safety education. Wyandanch joins Central Islip and Patchogue-Medford as one of three participating districts, with 30 Wyandanch students in grades 9-12 serving as ambassadors this year.
Throughout the spring, students will participate in a series of workshops led by members of the Sheriff’s Office. Sessions will cover criminal investigations, drug and vaping awareness, impaired driving prevention through the “STOPPED” program, social media safety, human trafficking awareness and gang awareness. Students will also take part in visits to the Sheriff’s Office facilities in Riverhead and Yaphank for hands-on learning experiences, culminating in a graduation ceremony in early June.
The breakfast marked the beginning of a meaningful partnership focused preparing young leaders.
