Sophomore Maria Rivera Earns State Recognition in Youth Art Month Contest

Competing with her outstanding artwork “Globe” against more than 11,000 entries, Wyandanch Memorial High School sophomore Maria Rivera earned one of just five high school honorable mention recognitions in the New York State Art Teachers Association’s Youth Art Month Flag Design Contest. This year’s contest theme was “The World Needs Art.”
“Although I didn’t win, I feel honored I was selected out of so many people,” Rivera said. “It’s my dream to become an artist.”
Congratulations, Maria!
