Wyandanch High School Unveils Digital Athletics Wall of Fame

Wyandanch Memorial High School marked a historic milestone on Dec. 19 with the unveiling of its new Athletics Wall of Fame, a permanent digital display honoring the school’s most accomplished student-athletes and championship teams. Located in the hallway adjacent to the school’s gymnasium and auditorium, the Wall of Fame celebrates excellence, dedication and achievement while serving as a lasting source of inspiration for current and future athletes.
The digital installation will proudly recognize student-athletes who have earned All-County honors or higher, as well as teams that have captured league championships or beyond. For the first time in school history, the athletic department will forever showcase the achievements of those who have represented the school at the highest levels of competition.
“Good afternoon to everyone here,” said Principal Paul Sibblies, addressing the expectant audience of Board members, district leaders and administrators, faculty, staff and current student athletes. “It is a proud and historic moment for our school community.”
“Today marks a monumental chapter in the history of Wyandanch Memorial High School,” said Athletic Director Dr. Ty Scarlett, who initiated the Wall of Fame project. “We gather not only to unveil a wall, but to preserve a legacy.”
“I was an alumnus, athlete and coach here, so I would like to thank Dr. Scarlett for his time and efforts in setting this program up,” said legendary girls basketball coach and Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame inductee Warren Fuller, who was on hand for the unveiling and shared his vibrant recollections of the many storied Wyandanch coaches and athletes of the past.
“This unveiling not only helps us memorialize the stories and legends that Mr. Fuller shared, but it also highlights the powerful connection between honor and tradition and embracing progress,” Assistant Superintendent for Administrative and Instructional Accountability Dr. Christine Jordan said.
“The Athletics Wall of Fame reflects who we are at the core,” Superintendent Dr. Erik Wright said. “A community rooted in perseverance, excellence and pride.”
