SupplyHouse Employees Help Wyandanch Scholars Build Career Skills

SupplyHouse, a longtime supporter of Wyandanch Memorial High School’s business education programs – including the annual Shark Tank event for Introduction to Business students – visited the school on Dec. 9 to help scholars strengthen their career readiness skills. Employees met with students in the library to conduct speed interviews, giving them the chance to practice answering as well as asking questions.
“I learned that many of the people I spoke with had been working at the company for seven or eight years and were now in leadership roles,” scholar Jacqueline Ruiz said.
“Something I really liked about talking with the adults was how kind they were,” scholar Alastair Pereira said. “I also learned the importance of asking questions after a job interview, and what questions to ask.”
“One thing I liked about my experience was seeing how different fields of work can stem from various college degrees,” scholar Ethan Bethea said. “I learned that college can lead to unexpected careers.”
