Wyandanch names Dr. Ty Scarlett Director of Athletics

Wyandanch Union Free School District announced the appointment of Dr. Ty Scarlett as its new director of athletics during the June 11 board of education meeting.
Dr. Scarlett is a nationally certified athletic administrator and educational leader with more than 15 years’ experience spanning K–12 and higher education. He holds a doctorate in educational administration and instructional leadership from St. John’s University and has led health, wellness and athletic programs across multiple public and charter school districts, including Baldwin, Carle Place and the Academy Charter Schools.
In addition to his work at the district level, Dr. Scarlett brings extensive collegiate experience to the district, previously serving as assistant athletic director and wrestling coach at Nassau Community College, where he helped lead the program to eight NJCAA national championships.
A former Division I student-athlete and two-time collegiate All-American, Dr. Scarlett is committed to fostering a culture of excellence, inclusion and opportunity through sports and education. His leadership has supported historic athletic success, strategic community partnerships, capital improvement projects and student-centered programming.
“I am honored to join the Wyandanch community and excited to work with our students, staff and families to elevate our athletic programs,” said Dr. Scarlett. “Together, we will build a legacy of opportunity, leadership and excellence.”
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Erik Wright expressed his enthusiasm for the district’s newest leader.
“Dr. Scarlett brings a strong vision for the role athletics can play in student development and school culture,” Wright said. “We are confident that under his leadership, Wyandanch athletics will continue to grow and thrive.”
