Wyandanch Scholars Celebrate Poem in Your Pocket Day

Lafrancis Hardiman Elementary School scholars in Ms. Cindy Paschall’s technology and typing classes celebrated Poem in Your Pocket Day to mark National Poetry Month.

Throughout the month of April, scholars learned about the different types of poetry and to bring their knowledge to life students created their own couplet poems and utilized their typing skill to type them. Once the poems were written, the scholars turned poets printed the poems, folded them, and put them in their pockets to take home and share with their families.

Poem in Your Pocket Day takes place every year on a day in April during National Poetry Month. Everyone celebrates by selecting a poem, carrying it with them, and sharing it with others throughout the day at schools, in bookstores, libraries, parks, workplaces, and on social media.
