Creative fashions take center stage in Wyandanch

Students in Ms. Jill Lewis’ Fashion Illustration Art class at Wyandanch Memorial High School put their creative talents to the test as they designed unique and exciting pieces for their fashion show.

The bimonthly fashion challenge was to create motorcycle-inspired gear using only two garbage bags, packing tape, scissors and white chalk markers. Once their creations were completed, it was time to model their new designs. To make the experience more authentic, students in Mr. Bruce Penn’s media technology class created the perfect runway atmosphere using their lighting and sound skills perfected in class.

As the students proudly presented their one-of-a-kind fashions, they were judged by Wyandanch Memorial High School Assistant Principal Deven Kane, educator Danielle Tahir and guidance office secretary Nicole Sladsky. It was no easy task to select the winners. After much consideration, the judges selected their favorite designs created by seniors Naomi Patrick and Sade' Griffith, Aminah Saunders and Niyanna Demmitt. Congratulations to the winners and to all the students who participated in this creative and unique fashion challenge.
