Wyandanch Board of Education Recognizes Students

The Wyandanch Union Free School District Board of Education recently honored student-athlete Jonathan Sunguero and 11 seniors for their participation in the district’s Smart Scholars program.

Jonathan was recognized by the Board of Education for his outstanding athletic ability as a member of the soccer team and for his academic achievements. He was presented with a certificate of achievement by the Board and will attend Marist College on a soccer scholarship after graduation in June.

The Wyandanch High School seniors who are part of the Smart Scholars program were recognized for their hard work, dedication and participation in the program with Farmingdale State College.

“The Smart Scholars students have been faithful in their academic studies and committed to their goals,” said Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Gina Talbert. “We are incredibly proud to honor the seniors in this program which has provided them with opportunities for wide-reaching success.          

Through the Smart Scholars Program, the 11 students are provided with the opportunity to accelerate the completion of their high school studies while earning up to 39 college credits by their high school graduation.
