Due to the current school closing, all Committee on Special Education (CSE) and Committee on Preschool Education (CPSE) meetings are cancelled through April 1st. We will be contacting you at a future date to coordinate phone conferences. We thank you for your patience during this difficult time and look forward to collaborating with you in the near future to plan for your child’s educational program.
In addition, in alignment with current health precautions, all out-of-district Special Education Programs and Home/Community based Special Education Services are also cancelled during this time of school closing.
Parents’ Rights for Referral and Evaluation for Special Education Services/Programs
Section 4402 of the education law requires school districts to notify every parent or person in parental relation of their rights regarding the referral and evaluation of their child for the purposes of special education services or programs. This applies to the parents of all students in the district (with and without disabilities) upon their child’s entry into public school. Parents are encouraged to go to the New York State Department of Education’s website: http://www.p12.nysed.gov/specialed/publications/mq-publist.htm to see A Parent’s Guide to Special Education. The Parent’s Guide is also available on this site and in the Special Education Office.
